What are the fees?
Fees:
Weekly 1-hr. lessons. Monthly tuition is $260.00 (tax included).
Each student is scheduled for a specific weekly time slot. Your payment reserves that time slot.
Lessons are to be paid in advance by the 1st of the month. Bills are sent out via e-mail on or near the 20th of each month.
Can I begin lessons with just a keyboard?
Yes, that's fine. It's a great way to begin.
A keyboard has narrower keys and very little touch to make the sound. So transferring to a piano will be a slight adjustment but it shouldn't be too difficult. The basics are still the same (where the notes are, rhythm, etc.).
How often should a piano be tuned?
On Maui, a piano should be tuned every 6 months. Contact Tim Jasnau, Piano Solutions. 808-633-6655.
What about piano books?
I provide all music books. The price of books issued will be included on your bill (plus sales tax.) Books are provided at my cost. Copies of sheet music are provided at no extra cost.
How much practicing is involved?
In order to progress in playing the piano, practicing should be done on a daily basis. I use a "Practice Record" which lists what to practice and the number of repetitions. A beginning student would practice approximately 25 minutes each day to complete each Practice Record assignment. For intermediate students, 45 minutes and for advanced students, 1+ hours.
